Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 7, 2026

Welcome to Speedwiser ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how Dedaldev DOO ("Company") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "Service").

Speedwiser helps drivers track their average speed over a road section so they can stay within the legal limit. Because the Service measures movement, it relies on your device's location sensors. This document explains exactly what that means for your privacy.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Location Data

Why does the app need location access?

Speedwiser calculates your average speed by measuring how far you travel over time. This requires continuous access to your device's GPS while a section is being measured. Without location access, the core function of the app cannot work.

Does the app track location in the background?

Yes, but only while a section measurement is active. When you start a section, the app keeps reading your position even if you lock the screen or switch to another app, because a driver should not have to keep the app open while driving. On Android a persistent notification is shown for the entire time tracking is active. Tracking stops automatically when you end the section, and it does not resume after you close the app or restart your device.

Is my route or travel path uploaded?

No. The continuous stream of GPS positions is processed on your device only, in memory, and is never transmitted or stored as a route. We do not build a travel history, we do not record the path you took, and we do not store a sequence of positions.

What location data does leave my device?

For each completed section, a single starting coordinate (latitude and longitude of the point where the measurement began) is saved together with that section's summary and synchronised to our servers when you are online. No other position from that section is transmitted.

Motion sensors

On iOS the app requests access to motion and fitness activity. This is used by our background location component to detect whether the device is moving, so that location updates can be managed efficiently. Motion data is not stored and never leaves your device.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising, and the app does not display third-party advertisements or use advertising identifiers.

4. Analytics and Session Recording

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use the app. Clarity records your interactions with the app interface, including the screens you visit, taps, and navigation patterns, and produces session replays and heatmaps. Clarity also collects technical information such as your device model, operating system, screen size, and IP address (used to derive approximate location for regional statistics).

These recordings reflect what is shown on the app's own screens. They are used solely to improve usability and are processed by Microsoft as our service provider, under Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

5. Operational Notifications

Our team receives internal operational notifications through a workplace messaging tool when key events occur, for example when an account is created or a trip is completed. These messages may include your name and summary information about the trip, such as distance, duration, and average speed. They are used to monitor that the Service is functioning correctly. They do not include your coordinates.

6. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following providers, each of which processes limited data on our behalf:

On iOS, a small set of flags (whether an account exists, your account identifier, your sign-in provider, and whether onboarding is complete) is stored in your personal iCloud key-value storage. This allows the app to recognise you if you reinstall it. This data resides in your own iCloud account.

7. Using the App Without an Account

You can use Speedwiser without signing in with Apple or Google. In that case an anonymous account is created for you automatically so that your trips can be saved and synchronised. This anonymous account is not linked to your email address or your name. If you later sign in with Apple or Google, the data recorded under the anonymous account is transferred to your new account and the anonymous record is removed.

8. Data Retention

9. Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, all of your trips and sections, your statistics, and your achievements from our servers, clears all data stored locally on your device, and deletes your authentication record.

Please note that records held by our subscription provider and analytics recordings held by Microsoft Clarity are governed by those providers' own retention policies, and that internal operational notifications already delivered to our team's messaging tool remain in its message history. If you would like assistance with any of these, contact us at the address below.

10. Data Security

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Access to stored data is restricted to authorised personnel. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to request a copy of your data in a portable format. You may exercise the right to erasure directly by deleting your account in the app, or by contacting us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

12. Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for licensed drivers and is not directed at children. It is not intended for anyone under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

13. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including countries outside the European Economic Area where our service providers operate. Where such transfers occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards provided by those providers.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated within the app. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
